This Glass-panelled Portland Home Invites Nature In

Designed by Skylab Architecture, The Arboretum sits on a conservatory of trees, featuring a 200 degree panoramic forest view. Skylab Architecture opted for a less is more design approach, responding to the angularity of the existing structure by experimenting with form and detail.

The original roofline was retained with the addition of new vertical slot windows which work to draw natural light in and enhance floor to ceiling views. Exposed cedar walls little the interior of The Arboretum, while an open plan kitchen, dining and living space couples with expansive windows evoke the feeling of walking through the forest.

Neutral colours and clean lines allow The Arboretum’s surroundings to take centre stage, with the exposed wood and black and white colour palette highlighting the natural beauty of the landscape.
