Keep Track Of Your Gear In Style With The AirTag Hermès

In 1978, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director at Hermès, lost his luggage. Today, over forty years later, there’s a solution. Amongst announcements of a new iPhone colour, iPad, and iMac at the Apple ‘Spring Loaded’ event sat a new gadget, in the form of AirTag (yes, we’re also surprised it wasn’t called iTag); a digital tracking tag that can be attached to valuables.

A notable difference that sets the AirTag aside from other digital tags is the use of the Apple Find My app network, meaning the AirTag can provide current information of its location, provided it’s in range of another Apple device connected to the Find My network. “If a user misplaces their item and it is within Bluetooth range, they can use the Find My app to play a sound from the AirTag to help locate it,” explained Apple.

While the standard AirTag costs $45AUD for a single, there’s also an option for those who cannot fathom the thought of tainting their bags with the circular device. Apple has joined forces with Hermès to create the AirTag Hermès, a collection of handcrafted leather accessories consisting of the Key Ring, Bag Charm, and Luggage Tag.

Available in brown, indigo, and Hermès orange leather, the AirTag Hermès provides a suitably luxurious approach to keeping track of your goods. “I’m very happy because for me it’s a very relevant function and its ancestor is, of course, the leather luggage tag,” said Dumas of the collaboration.

The Apple AirTag and AirTag Hermès will be available on the Apple webstore on April 30th.
