Dior Takes To The Slopes With First Ever Men’s Ski Capsule

Couture is no longer relegated to the chalet.

Not just content with après ski-ready monogrammed puffer jackets and insulated boots, French luxury fashion house Dior has delved into ski wear and ski gear itself. The Dior Ski Capsule 2021 consists of ready-to-wear, skis, snowboards, and accessories, designed in collaboration with technical ski brands Descente, AK SKI and POC.

Combining cutting-edge technical design with sleek, minimalist design, the Dior Ski Capsule 2021 consists of high-performance silhouettes with a distinct sportswear touch.

Inspired by the vintage Japanese trends Dior creative director Kim Jones is fond of, the ready-to-wear winter apparel was created with Japanese sportswear specialists Descente, in a limited edition release.

Designed with performance and functionality in mind, the Dior ready-to-wear ski apparel extends beyond the luxury ski apparel traditionally favoured by those who frequent the slopes. Sewn using environmentally responsible nylon and filled with ethically-sourced feathers, jackets in navy blue, yellow or purple feature the noteworthy characteristics of being both waterproof, ultra-light and insulating. The pared-back, minimalist silhouettes ensure temperature regulation by employing an invisible and adjustable ventilation system in the back and arms, with a unique ‘tapping’ process used to guarantee impermeability against water.

Utilising the same technology, a jacket with removable sleeves and a windbreaker complete the outerwear offering. Finally, the accompanying nylon pants merge function with style, cut in a streamlined way that brings a touch of Dior’s signature tailoring to the slopes, while ensuring flexibility and comfort.

Not merely content with addressing the apparel element of winter sports, Dior has partnered with Swiss label AK SKI to produce a pair of skis and a snowboard. Crafted from a unique wood and carbon alloy, they feature high shock absorption capacity. To complete the look, Dior collaborated with Swedish sports and protective equipment company POC to develop a helmet and goggles, which are designed with protection and ease-of-use in mind.

The Dior Ski Capsule collection is available on the Dior webstore and instore locations.
