Zegna SS21 Explores The Concept Of Masculinity With Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis & Isabella Adjani

What does it mean to be a man today?

Italian luxury fashion house Zegna continues to ponder what it means to be a man in today’s society through their #whatmakesaman concept, which works to explore the intricate and multifaceted nature of modern masculinity. For their latest chapter of the concept, Zegna SS21 hones in on individuals and relationships, capturing the bond between model, singer and songwriter Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis and his mother, five-time César Award-winning actress Isabelle Adjani.

Adjani turns the lens upon Day-Lewis, providing us with a glimpse of how she sees her son. “Sometimes my son sounds like he has an old soul,” says Adjani. “Behind the boy that’s sometimes rebellious and really stubborn, there is so much wisdom and beautiful philosophy about love and kindness and generosity.”

zegna ss21 what makes a man

Seeking to explore the unique experiences of the contemporary man, the Zegna #whatmakesaman exploration continues to remind us that masculinity isn’t a rigid set of rules dictated by others, rather a fluid concept and personal state of mind.

Continuing their legacy of sustainability, the Zegna SS21 collection focuses on reimagined wardrobe classics that give a new life to existing fabrics, working towards the zero waste ideal. Existing materials are used to create tailored pieces, as well as bombers and shirt jackets which serve to reinterpret the monochromatic suit. The campaign also features luxury leisurewear in the form of hybrid garments in casual, fluid silhouettes.
