Zegna x Fear Of God Collection Postulates A Symbiotic Relationship Between Streetwear And Tailoring

The dichotomous worlds of tailoring and streetwear meet in Zegna x Fear of God. The result of a collaboration between Milanese luxury fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna and Los Angeles label Fear of God, the collection finds harmony between the seemingly opposing sartorial styles.

The collaboration between Zegna’s artistic director Alessandro Sartori and Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo captures the struggle between the longing for casual, comfortable loungewear and sportswear, and desire to return to elegant tailoring after months spent in the former, proposing a solution in the form of either polished streetwear or casual – yet sharp – tailoring.

“We both instinctively knew about this gap between what’s happening culturally and traditional tailoring,” said Lorenzo. “We looked at today’s man and what his needs are: How does he maintain his own identity, from a sweatsuit to a tailored piece, without losing his point of view? There’s a place in between that speaks to both.”

The aforementioned place lies in the consolidation of Fear of God’s skate culture inspired silhouettes with the exceptional fabrics and sharp tailoring Zegna is known for. Comprising blazer-like work shirts, silk tracksuits masquerading as formalwear, bomber jackets in supple leather, half-zip woolen anoraks, luxuriously crafted hoodies, and mandarin collared shirts, the collection is refreshingly easy to wear.

With a neutral colour palette of greys, browns, cream, and black (with the occasional pop of denim), Zegna x Fear of God slots seamlessly into the contemporary man’s wardrobe, proving that sophisticated tailoring and streetwear can indeed enjoy a symbiotic relationship.
