Tia Adeola Releases Stunning Marie Antoinette-inspired Film ‘Black Is Beautiful’ To Debut SS21 Collection

Nigerian designer Tia Adeola has debuted her first fashion film, coinciding with the release of her SS21 collection. Starring an all-Black female cast including the likes of rapper and songwriter Flo Milli and R&B performer Paloma Ford, Black is Beautiful (or Le Noir Est Beau in French) is a celebration of Black culture and Black women.

Decadent and opulent, Black is Beautiful by Tia Adeola was inspired by Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film Marie Antoinette and “produced through the lens of Renaissance epicureanism and indulgent luxury,” according to a press release.

Directed by Nina Meredith, the two minute fashion film showcases Tia Adeola’s elevated take on evening wear; high slit floor-length silk gowns which feature Adeola’s signature ruffles, beaded corsetry, sheer embroidered jumpsuits, lace gowns, and slinky two piece sets.
