When it comes to bar cart staples, whisky is often shunted to the side in favour of cocktail standbys like vodka, gin, tequila, and rum. Though whiskies are typically saved to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks, there’s no good reason why they shouldn’t take centre stage in a cocktail. With a multitude of whisky varietals available, a good cocktail makes the ideal way to explore the intricacies of the spirit. With sweet honeyed malty notes that combine with spices, dried fruit, and just a hint of citrus, the Aberfeldy 12-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch makes for the consummate winter warmer.
Though the honeyed spirit makes for smooth sipping on its own, it also works a treat in a sweet twist on an Old Fashioned, or in the quintessential winter tipple; a hot toddy.

Add the honey syrup, bitters, and Aberfeldy to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir to dilute (around 30 seconds). Pour into a rocks glass and add a large ice cube. Cut and twist an orange twist to express oil over the drink, then discard.
