It takes something special to wrangle the style set out of bed at the crack of dawn, however Commas, the brainchild of husband and wife duo Richard and Emma Jarmon, does just that. Presented on the shores of Sydney’s Tamarama beach at sunrise, the Commas Resort 2022 collection focuses on moments of pause and reflection.
Inspired by the natural landscape, Commas Resort 2022 employs a neutral colour palette of greens, beige and camel, soft pink, creams, and a smattering of sunrise-esque colours that appear on a painted silk shirt. An homage to the inherently reflective nature of Australian beach and surf culture, the collection was optimistically breezy; despite the crisp morning, models sauntered across the sand in linen robes, drawstring trousers, swim trunks and briefs, knit tanks, relaxed shirting, drawstring trousers, and some distinctly Commas takes on tailoring; soft, effortless, and casual.

Polished, flushed skin was the name of the game, with Clean at Sephora brands used to achieve an effortlessly natural complexion with a subtle glow. Dewy skin was prepped with Sephora or First Aid Beauty Exfoliating Wipes, spritzed with Caudalie Beauty Elixir, before under eyes were treated to a dose of hydration courtesy of Alpha-H Hyaluronic 8 serum, and moisturised with Milk Makeup Vegan Moisturiser. Sun protection came courtesy of another Australian cult-favourite; Ultra Violette Queen Screen and Clean Screen.

To achieve a no-makeup makeup look, makeup artists, led by creative director of beauty Isabella Schimid, applied either the Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint or Sephora Best Skin Ever foundation to models’ faces. A subtle contour with the Milk Makeup Stick Foundation added light definition, with Tarte Coloured Brow Gel and a light coat of Sephora Mascara in brown finishing off the looks.
“The Commas ethos is founded on creating high-quality original garments, so it made sense to work with Clean at Sephora products to create a responsible makeup direction for our first show,” explains COMMAS founder Richard Jarman. “I believe our future hinges on reverence for nature. If each brand can do what they can to provide cleaner and more responsible products, people have more power to make informed decisions and shop on their own terms.”
