The Moncler Genius x Gentle Monster Collab Wants You To Swipe Right On Outerwear & Eyewear

Moncler Genius has released its latest collaborative instalment, this time teaming up with eyewear brand Gentle Monster. Founded in Seoul in 2011 by Hankook Kim, Gentle Monster has become known for its experimental contemporary frames. Dubbed ‘Swipe’, the Moncler Genius x Gentle Monster collaboration centres on the concept of the digital practice of swiping that pervades much of everyday life, representing emotions, instant gratification, and approval in the online world.

The thematic collaboration comprises eyewear, puffer jackets, and jersey pieces, which, according to the press release “[question] the limiting binary nature of this universal habit.” some of the eyewear use frames that employ swiping mechanisms as closers, with the Moncler logo elongated as if swiped over. Silhouettes include oversized square frames, oval frames, and geometric polygonal frames. Each design features 99.9% UV protection lenses and comes in an array of colourways such as translucent red, charcoal frames with yellow-and-blue tinted lenses, and classic black. The arms feature a co-branded metal logo.

Meanwhile, the apparel offering is dominated by monochromatic black, providing a backdrop for the eyewear component. Puffer jackets, vests, and recycled nylon and polyester shell jackets sit alongside technical tops and trousers, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. Accessories include hoods, pouches, and bags made with recycled materials, as well as boots. 

To celebrate this unique partnership, Moncler and Gentle Monster have launched a pop-up concept space within Gentle Monster’s Seoul HAUS store. Here, the lines between reality and the digital world will be blurred, represented through immersive physical and digital installations.

The Moncler Genius x Gentle Monster collaboration is now available via the Moncler webstore, while the pop-up runs from 5th to 30th May.
