the Jacquemus x Nike collection is long gone

Mere minutes. That’s all it took for the hotly anticipated Jacquemus x Nike collaboration to completely sell out. Lending his signature carefree yet sexy take on womenswear to the world’s largest sportswear powerhouse, Simon Porte Jacquemus has designed a 15-piece capsule collection for Nike.

An elevated and slightly sultry take on classic athletic staples, the entire collection is defined by neutral tones of cream, beige, tan, and navy. The instantly recognisable Nike swoosh logo is reinterpreted as a metal charm, adding a jewellery-like element to garments; decorating straps on backless dresses or attached to ties that wrap around the midriff.

“For this collaboration with Nike, I wanted to create a collection that reinterprets athletic women’s sportswear in a minimal way,” Simon Porte Jacquemus said in a press release. Jacquemus drew inspiration from vintage Nike ACG pieces and the brand’s campaigns from the ‘90s. “Having this imagery in mind, we designed women’s athletic wear with sensuous details and neutral colours, along with my own interpretation of the Humara — my favourite Nike shoe.”

Nike ACG, meaning ‘All Conditions Gear’ was a sub-label that honed in on technical wear designed for hiking and other outdoor activities. ACG enjoyed popularity during the ‘80s and ‘90s before being discontinued and later relaunched in 2014. Jacquemus drew upon elements of the branding during the original release of ACG, while also utilising Nike’s proprietary DRI-Fit fabrics alongside technical knitwear crafted from cotton and recycled fibres.

First released in 1997, the Nike Humara sneakers were designed as trail runners.

The aforementioned Humara sneaker was initially released in 1997 and positioned as a trail runner. The sneaker has received the Jacquemus treatment; the body has been pared-back and features a small Nike swoosh in gold hardware on the side and textured overlays on the top. The Jacquemus Humara sneaker is available in two colourways, sand/white and beige/brown.

“It was important for the collection to be accessible, for all bodies, and to be a natural blend of Jacquemus style and Nike performance,” noted Jacquemus. Jacquemus x Nike certainly delivers on this, with the collection showcased by a diverse range of models.

Although the collection sold out upon its release on 28th June via the Jacquemus webstore, Nike x Jacquemus will be available to ship via the Nike webstore and in physical stores around the world from 7th July onwards.
