Balenciaga & Adidas Position The Tracksuit As A Corporate Essential

Six months after its debut at the Balenciaga SS23 runway show, the adidas x Balenciaga capsule collection has dropped. The ‘90s-inspired capsule recontextualises the humble tracksuit as business attire, with co-branded iterations forming the heart of the collection.

In addition to the tracksuit sets — stamped with an adidas x Balenciaga trefoil logo — designed to be styled with heeled pantashoes, the collection also comprises oversized three stripe t-shirts, baggy jeans, beaten-up Stan Smiths, Triple S sneakers, and athletic attire. There’s also co-branded card holders, shorts, caps, and adidas interpretations of Balenciaga jewellery staples.

The dedicated adidas x Balenciaga campaign was shot by photojournalist Joshua Bright. Taking place in a Manhattan high-rise, the likes of Bella Hadid, Isabelle Huppert, Khadim Sock, Han So Hee, and Jermell Charlo are depicted passing time in isolated office spaces. Surrounded by era-specific corporate paraphernalia — piles of paper, jars of writing utensils, landline phones, and desktop computers — the collection is juxtaposed against the deliberately mundane setting.

The adidas x Balenciaga collection is available via both the adidas and Balenciaga webstores.
