Couture Meets Utility With Maison Margiela x Reebok Tabi Instapump Fury

Basic bourgeois.

In their first collaboration together, seemingly opposing brands Maison Margiela and Reebok blend their distinctive design styles in the Maison Margiela x Reebok Tabi Instapump Fury. The French luxury fashion house and American sportswear and footwear company riff off the latter’s original Instapump style from 1994, adding Maison Margiela’s signature Tabi split-toe – which Maison Margiela introduced in 1988 – into the mix.

The flat variety is reminiscent of Reebok’s Retro Fit sneaker, while the heeled iteration is a whole other ballgame. The collaboration adds visual dialogue to the concept of the cyber industrial revolution we’re currently undergoing, with John Galliano, Maison Margiela’s Creative Director stating that “the shoe builds on Maison Margiela’s analyses of the conversation between humanity and technology in the digital age.”

The Maison Margiela x Reebok Tabi Instapump Fury is now available at the Maison Margiela store on Crosby Street in Manhattan, as well as on the Maison Margiela webstore.
