It’s Barbie’s World And Maserati Is Just Living In It

Barbie has graduated from her plastic pink convertible and upgraded to an SUV. Don’t worry though, it’s still pink. Maserati has teamed up with Mattel on a unique collaboration that sees the luxury Italian marque’s Grecale model clad in a Barbie-approved shade of hot pink.

Tapping into the Barbiecore trend that has thus far influenced sartorial and interior design trends, Maserati extends the fun into the automotive world with an ultra-limited Fuoriserie edition, with just two units available globally. The first Barbie x Maserati Grecale SUV was unveiled as one of the 2022 Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gifts at the luxury retailer’s holiday launch soirée in Los Angeles earlier this month, with details regarding the second unit yet to be announced.

Designed as part of the Trident’s Fuoriserie customisation program, the Barbie x Maserati Grecale SUV is a Trofeo iteration equipped with the powerful 530-hp V6 Nettuno engine. Dressed in hot pink with accents in the form of fine acid-yellow lines and Trident details on the wheels, the resultant Barbie x Maserati Grecale is surprisingly tasteful, with the clean lines and sporty aesthetic of the Grecale silhouette preventing it from entering tacky territory.

The Grecale’s exterior — emblazoned with the Barbie logo — is sealed with an iridescent topcoat that reveals a rainbow effect when it catches the sun’s rays. The sleek black interior features leather seats, dashboards, carpets, and doors that are accented with pink stitching, as well as branded headrests with the ‘B’ badge.

The first bespoke Barbie x Maserati Grecale will be sold through American retailer Neiman Marcus, with 10% of the sale price donated to the Barbie Dream Gap Project, an ongoing global initiative that gives girls the resources and support they need to continue believing in themselves.
