Ahead of the commencement of the Giro d’Italia, one of the most famous cycling races in the world, Tudor has released a new timepiece specifically engineered for the Swiss manufacture’s cycling team. The Tudor Pro Cycling Team was established at the end of 2022, with members wearing a special edition of the Black Bay Chrono Dark as a team watch; a timepiece that will never be made available to the public.

Fortunately, the Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition fills that void. Designed with legibility front of mind, the watch has a 43mm case crafted from matte black carbon composite which houses a matte black dial with ceramic composite monobloc hour markers as well as Tudor’s signature snowflake hands (which are coated with Super-LumiNova). There’s a cycling-specific tachymeter scale (scaled down to a more manageable speed for cyclists) on the dial, while the fixed bezel plays host to a precision 60-minute scale. The sleek (almost) all-black look is accented by three red rings on the rehaut which are used for the tachymeter scale as well as the red perimeter on both subdials. The case has fixed lugs which are sculpted downwards to promote a more comfortable fit, while a closed titanium caseback ensures 100 metres of water resistance.

It’s powered by the in-house calibre MT5813. Based on the Breitling B01, it beats at 28,800vph and has a weekend-proof power reserve of 70 hours. Utilising a column wheel and vertical clutch architecture, the movement is COSC certified for precision.
As with most of Tudor’s sports-focused timepieces, the Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition comes on a single-piece fabric strap crafted from black Jacquard-woven technical fabric and secured with a traditional buckle.

The Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Cycling Edition is a non-limited special edition watch. Priced at $7840AUD, it’s available via the Tudor webstore.
