While a certain difficult-to-acquire timepiece has been irrevocably bestowed the moniker ‘The President’, the real accolade arguably goes to the Vulcain Cricket, which has been gifted to most US presidents since Harry Truman in 1953, including Barack Obama. Now, the Swiss watchmaker has partnered with Revolution and The Rake to release a limited-edition of the president-worthy timepiece. Named ‘Style Moderne’, it draws aesthetic inspiration from the golden age of Art Deco design, expressed through its striking two-tone Bellini and anthracite dial, a design element employed by the likes of Longines, Patek Philippe, and Omega during the 1920s.

On dial is a circular track with radial markers that promote precise reading of the time, while exuding a distinctly vintage feel. The four white rhodium-applied Arabic numerals see the 3 and 9 oriented horizontally, as with timepieces of the 1930s. Steel hour, minute, and seconds hands add to the tonal approach.

The Vulcain Cricket Style Moderne is housed in a 39mm stainless steel case, fitted with domed sapphire glass and equipped with a pump pusher and onion-shaped crown. The screw-down caseback is emblazoned with the Revolution logo, while under the hood the timepiece is kept beating with an in-house manual-winding V-10 alarm calibre with a 42-hour power reserve. The timepiece is presented on a brown leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle.

Limited to 50 examples, the Vulcain Cricket Style Moderne in collaboration with Revolution and The Rake is priced at $6104AUD ($4060USD) and is available via the Revolution webstore.
