Located in Hamburg, Germany next to the Montblanc headquarters, the new Montblanc Haus is a homage to the art of writing. Designed by Nieto Sobejanos Arquitectos, the building speaks to Montblanc’s heritage. Taking on a seemingly minimalist form, the dark cladding of the building is broken up with striated concrete reminiscent of the Montblanc mountain range from which the company derives its name. At night, the concrete is lit up, with shades of white evoking the snow-capped peaks of the range.

Set over three levels, the Montblanc Haus plays host to a permanent exhibition that aims to inspire writing, highlighting the power and value of writing, spotlighting handwriting around the world, showcasing the Montblanc savoir-faire, and exploring the brand’s various collections. A multifunctional space, Montblanc Haus also houses a cafe and boutique and serves as a way to acquaint visitors with the art of writing by hand. Montblanc Haus also offers classes to visitors in calligraphy and creative writing, as well as children’s classes. As part of its commitment to the culture of writing, Montblanc will host special classes for disadvantaged children and young adults to inspire them to use writing to their advantage and to express themselves creatively.
The work of Paris-based artist Wendy Andreu is the first thing visitors encounter – art from wool coloured with ink and filled with surprising details that reveal themselves with every glance: words, waves, the shape of mountains. For Studio Marianne Guély, paper is an unlimited source of inspiration used as the signature material for its creations.
