The Balenciaga Store In London Gets A Fluffy Pink Makeover

“Think pink!” seems to be the motto of the moment for Balenciaga, with the Spanish luxury fashion house decking its Mount Street store in Mayfair, London in pink faux fur. The maximalist fluffy makeover is an ode to the brand’s Le Cagole collection, with the new Le Cagole bag designed by creative director Demna referencing the infamous Balenciaga Motorcycle bag. Sported by everyone from D-list celebrities to veritable It Girls across the western hemisphere during the 2000s, the Motorcycle Bag was conceived by long-term creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere in 2001 who helmed the fashion house for 15 years from 1997 to 2012.

“The line, which now includes multiple bags, wallet, and shoe styles, reinvents Balenciaga codes in the tradition of maximalist It Bags of another era,” says the brand of the Le Cagole collection. “Le Cagole pop-ups are in keeping with this spirit, covered entirely with bright pink fake fur. Shelves, displays, floors, seating, and even racks in the open-plan kiosks are lined in pink.”

The decidedly maximalist Le Cagole collection derives its name from French slang that refers to a “cool girl” who is “a little over the top” when it comes it attitude. Since its launch, the Le Cagole collection has extended to include a variety of bags as well as shoes and purses.

To extend the Le Cagole aesthetic across the Mount Street store, Balenciaga removed its accessories, ready-to-wear collections, and permanent shelving from the store and installed temporary metal fixtures throughout. Then, the brand wrapped these fixtures in fluffy bubblegum-hued fur to create an irresistably tactile display.

The delightfully fully installation will be live until June 2022, after which is will be dismantled. The Le Cagole collection is available to shop via the Balenciaga webstore.
