Jacob & Co. & Monopoly Have Teamed Up To Create A Whisky

Now there’s a headline we didn’t see coming. The collaboration sees jeweller and watchmaker Jacob Arabo — founder of Jacob & Co. — come together with artist Alec Monopoly (so, not the actual board game man, but still) to create a limited-edition high-end whisky. Arabo is no stranger to stepping out of the jewellery and horological categories, with Jacob & Co. previously venturing into branded residences. The latest move is in line with Jacob & Co.’s desire to position itself as a leading player in the wider luxury market.

The Jacob & Co. x Alec Monopoly limited-edition whisky is presented in a bespoke decanter designed by Constellation X and co-signed by DJ and street artist Alec Monopoly, a NYC-born creator who made a name for himself through his graffiti art style as well as by taking sartorial cues from the Monopoly man.

Limited to 2000 decanters, the Jacob & Co. x Alec Monopoly whisky comes courtesy of ex-Bowmore master blender Andrew Rankin, who sourced an array of fine whiskies — each aged 26 years and upwards — from first and second fill ex-bourbon American Oak casks. Blended in 2016, it spent the next four years ageing as one, making the resultant Jacob & Co. x Alec Monopoly whisky a 30-year-old blend.

The liquid is inspired by Arabo’s own drinking preferences, with the jeweller partial to class flavours of Scotch whisky — his dram of choice. On the nose, the collaborative whisky reveals notes of honey and vanilla underscored by a malt, which make way for fresh green apple and a warm oakiness. Meanwhile, the palette is defined by a rich, creamy, honeyed opening that reveals spicy, peppery notes before a malty finish.

The first Constellation X decanter (Decanter #1) housing the liquid, as well as the accompanying holder and box, has been personally painted by Alec Monopoly. The artist’s signature tag features on the decanter, while the holder is emblazoned with the iconic board game figure himself.

The limited-edition whisky is limited to 2000 examples and priced at $2500USD, while Decanter #1 will be offered at auction. To collect one, pass go and head to the Constellation X webstore.
