Montblanc Celebrates The Transformative & Transportive Power Of The Written Word

An ode to the written word, Montblanc’s latest campaign explores the timeless power of libraries. Titled ‘The Library Spirit’, the campaign speaks to the importance of these institutions, with libraries having been used for centuries as a space for learning and inspiration, and tranquillity and respite in equal measure.

The peaceful, transportive world of words is one shared by Montblanc and serves as the setting for the German luxury good house’s latest campaign. Shot by Peruvian fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco and starring British actor Callum Turner alongside models Kit Butler, Justice Joslin, and Mattia Narducci, the campaign sees the quartet explore the booklined shelves. Montblanc pen in hand, Turner reflects on his journey of literary discovery through handwritten notes.

“Libraries are a place for knowledge, intimacy and emotions, where words are there to be discovered for all eternity, expressing the power of their author’s imagination through time,” says Marco Tomasetta, artistic director at Montblanc. “It is a destination that is so authentic to Montblanc, a maison that has always championed the power of words, and the way they shape our collective cultural identity. With this campaign, we want to invite others into this world to be inspired, to learn something new, to be challenged.”

The Library Spirit campaign showcases the maison’s latest pieces. Sitting within the Montblanc Sartorial collection — a series of business-oriented leather goods — bags and accessories are crafted from soft leather and take on a two-toned effect, with new colours and a modular system introduced. Smaller leather goods like pouches and document cases are designed to be attached to backpacks and totes, allowing for various customisation possibilities. The design cotes of the Montblanc Sartorial collection are rooted in the German brand’s writing heritage, with ink bottles from the Montblanc archive inspiring the triangular design of bag handles while the construction of document holders and the sides of the bags evoke the shape of an envelope.

The reimagined Sartorial collection is available to shop via the Montblanc webstore and in physical boutiques.
