The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink Is The Watch We Didn’t Know We Needed

Pink panda 🩷🐼.

Watches & Wonders hasn’t even started and Tudor is coming in hot with an unexpected new release. The new timepiece comes just a day after news of the Swiss manufacture’s partnership with its ambassador David Beckham’s football club, Inter Miami. A marked deviation from the manufacture’s usual pragmatic, military-influenced approach, the new Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink sees the recognisable model take on a pink dial.

While the timepiece appears to echo the hue of Inter Miami’s jerseys (a shade personally chosen by Beckham to make the team stand out), the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink is actually a three-way collaboration between Tudor, Inter Miami, and fellow Tudor ambassador, Taiwanese musician Jay Chou; the latter of whom is notorious for loving the colour pink.

One of the manufacture’s core dive watches, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono is beloved for its solid value proposition and panda dial configuration which bears resemblance to a certain infamous model by its big brother Rolex. Here, the Black Bay Chrono Pink suffuses the style with its own unique flavour, with the shade choice adding a playful touch to the otherwise conservative chronograph.

Like its stablemates, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink comes in a 41mm stainless steel case and features a bicompax layout with black snailled subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock, a date aperture at 6 o’clock, snowflake hands, screw-down pushers, and a combination a brushed and satin-finished surfaces. It’s powered by the COSC-certified calibre MT5813, which is produced by Breitling for Tudor.

With the shade choice taking the lion’s share of attention, a minor new addition goes relatively unnoticed. The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink is presented on a five-link bracelet — introduced by the brand at last year’s Watches & Wonders, it draws heavily from Rolex’s jubilee bracelet. While it’s a questionable choice for a tool watch, we can’t fault the accompanying T-fit rapid adjustment clasp.

In the press release for the Black Bay Chrono Pink, Tudor states that it knows the model doesn’t pander, or should we say panda (sorry!), to the masses. So, it won’t be added to the main lineup, with only a “small number of examples [to be] produced.” The manufacture is frustratingly vague about actual quantities, but expect to see it heavily inflated on the secondary market in a matter of months.

The Black Bay Chrono Pink is priced at $8210AUD (in line with the standard model), with more information available on the Tudor webstore.
