Dion Lee SS21 Juxtaposes Architecture With Nature

Architecturally-minded Australian designer Dion Lee has taken a biophilic turn, merging structure and form with nature. Rather than his usual angular yet sexy designs, The Dion Lee SS21 collection accentuates the human form through softer, more delicate silhouettes.

The collection’s neutral colour palette is accentuated with vibrant, earthy colours; pops of forest green and mustard yellow join the usual beige, cream, and black tones.

Though the collection isn’t completely devoid of the corsetry that Dion Lee is known for, SS21 leans into showcasing form through clingy, comfortable materials and strategic cutouts. Tied ribbed knit dresses and macramé singlets and skirts make an appearance, as do fringing and a custom-designed camouflage pattern. In a very literal representation of nature, leather tops and a dress take on the shape of a monstera leaf.
