AR Obsessions: Beauty & Grooming Favourites For June 2021

Welcome back to AR Obsessions, where we run through the lustworthy products we’re obsessing over in the Albert Review office this month. Here at AR HQ, we’re inundated with new offerings in the skincare and beauty realms each month. While it’s far from a tough burden to bear, you can be sure our opinions are discerning, with only the best of the best earning our seal of approval.

So, let’s get into it. These are the beauty, skincare, and grooming products we’re obsessing over in June 2021.

1. Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Treatment Cream

june beauty favourites

Made with antioxidant-rich white tea, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and skin-strengthening peptides, the Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Treatment Cream is the perfect winter moisturiser for dry or mature skin. While many restorative creams come with a thick texture, this iteration is fluid, lightweight, and spreadable; sinking in rapidly and leaving skin feeling hydrated and rejuvenated.

2. ZitSticka Press Refresh

Personally, I’ve never gotten the hype around sheet masks, with most of them accompanied by an unnerving cooling quality and sliding off unless you maintain a catatonic, horizontal state. However, the ZitSticka Press Refresh sheet mask has me rethinking my anti-sheet mask stance. Made with a mix of AHAs and BHA (think lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acids), niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid, Press Refresh uses a jelly-like mask that moulds to the skin, preventing it from slipping off. Infused with graphene technology to allow ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin, this mask works to exfoliate and hydrate acne-prone skin, unclogging pores and smoothing out texture.

3. Gucci Memoire D’une Odeur

We’ve gone in-depth on why the Gucci Memoire D’une Odeur is the perfect genderless scent before, however I recently rediscovered the beauty of this one after trying too many heady, intoxicating fragrances. A herbal, slightly verdant scent, it’s built around roman chamomille, settling on the skin in a way that’s fresh, slightly soapy, powdery, and minerally. While not for everyone, to me it’s the ideal clean scent to refresh and reset the senses.

4. Naked Sundays SPF50+ Collagen Glow Creme

With the cooler weather, we’re trading in for more nourishing formulas; sunscreen included. ALongside SPF50+ protection, the Naked Sundays Collagen Glow Creme contains vegan collagen and watermelon extract, that work to provide skin with extra hydration and a subtle glow. With an almost whipped cream-like consistency, it sinks into the skin quickly, completely white cast-free.

5. Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream

A reformulated take on their classic face moisturiser, the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Cream is the ideal panacea for dehydrated skin. Two types of hyaluronic acid work to hydrate the skin from the surface and deeper in the epidermis, with time-release technology delivering hydration for up to 72 hours. The addition of damask rose works to strengthen the skin and provide a fragrant sensorial experience unlike any other.

6. Revlon So Fierce Big Bad Lash Mascara

Definitely not for those after the no-makeup makeup look, the Revlon So Fierce Big Bad Lash Mascara takes your lashes to dramatic proportions. Gliding on without clumping, it provides length, volume, and a slight curl. This mascara formula stands out for its lash tint technology; with continued use it works to gradually tint your lashes, making even your bare lashes look more defined over time.

7. Q+A Niacinamide Daily Toner

A savvy way to reap the benefits of niacinamide without adding yet another serum to your skincare routine. A water-light formula, the Q+A Niaincamide Daily Toner is designed to be splashed onto skin after cleansing, adding hydration and soothing any redness.

8. Aesop Lucent Facial Concentrate

An all-rounder for oily or combination skin types, the Aesop Lucent Facial Concentrate adds a gentle dose of vitamin C and niacinamide to your skincare routine, while hydrating the skin. Featuring Aesop’s signature botanical scent, it makes for a good serum to layer over your other actives or can be used on its own as a starter serum.

9. Recreation Beauty Glow Queen Glow Body Oil

We’re big fans of body oils here at AR, and this is definitely one that deserves to be on your radar. With an impressive blend of plant oils including jojoba, coconut, apricot, and rosehip, the Recreation Beauty Glow Queen Glow Body Oil features the calming scent of jasmine and neroli. Best smoothed onto slightly damp skin post-shower.

10. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil Intense

Intense colour payoff with benefits; the Clarins Lip Comfort Oils add hydration and work to soften the lips with a blend of hazelnut, jojoba, and cranberry oils, while providing colour akin to that of a lipstick. Truly the best of both worlds.

11. Grown Alchemist Vanilla & Orange Peel Hand Cream

We’ve been going through tubes of hand cream like water this month, with the Grown Alchemist Vanilla & Orange Peel Hand Cream becoming a fast favourite. Made with a mix of omega and antioxidant-rich botanical oils and extracts, it has a lightweight texture that’s rapidly absorbed, working to quickly soften winter-ravaged hands.
