AR Obsessions: Beauty & Grooming Favourites For October 2021

Welcome back to AR Obsessions, where we run through the lustworthy products we’re obsessing over in the Albert Review office this month. Here at AR HQ, we’re inundated with new offerings in the skincare and beauty realms each month. While it’s far from a tough burden to bear, you can be sure our opinions are discerning, with only the best of the best earning our seal of approval.

So, let’s get into it. These are the beauty, skincare, and grooming products we’re obsessing over in October 2021.

1. WelleCo The Super Skin Elixir Capsules

Sometimes endless potions and powders can become a hassle to take; the WelleCo The Skin Elixir Vegan Capsules simplify the ingestible element of your skincare routine. The easy-to-take vegan-friendly capsules pair greens with skin and gut-supporting ingredients like vitamin B3, acreola cherry, copper, and zinc to improve overall skin health and contribute to a more glowing complexion.

2. Hydroskin Eye Cream

A deeply nourishing and hydrating formula, the Hydroskin Eye Cream is one of the few that doesn’t cause irritation to sensitive eyes and can be used all around the eye area (including over eyelids). It makes the perfect barrier cream to protect your eye area prior to using retinol or other stronger actives.

3. The Beauty Chef x Alpha-H AM-PM Glow Kit

Taking a dual approach to skincare, The Beauty Chef x Alpha-H AM-PM Glow Kit targets skin health internally and externally. The Beauty Chef’s signature berry-flavoured Glow powder supports the gut-skin connection with wholefoods, probiotics, and postbiotics in the morning, while the Alpha-H Midnight Reboot Serum uses glycolic acid and retinoids to renew and resurface the skin at night.

4. Compagnie de Provence Seaweed Velvet Body Cream

While a lot of rich body creams tend to form a ‘film’ and linger unpleasantly on the skin, the Compagnie de Provence Seaweed Velvet Body Cream strikes the perfect balance between being ultra-moisturising and enjoyable to wear. Its super silky gel-cream texture makes application a breeze, while the formula sinks in quickly and delivers lasting hydration – I find if I use this in the morning, I can get away with skipping moisturising post-shower at night. Botanical oils and seaweed provide a delicate scent, which pairs perfectly with the matching Seaweed Velvet Liquid Soap.

5. Moroccanoil Original Oil Treatment

The hero product of the Moroccanoil range, the brand’s signature treatment oil is a cult-favourite for a reason. Good for restoring colour damaged hair or smoothing down flyaways, it’s rapidly absorbed and doesn’t leave any residue behind. A little goes a long way with this one – I’d recommend applying on still-damp hair for best results.

6. Juliette Has A Gun Pear Inc.

As the name suggests, green pear takes centre stage in this fresh, musky fragrance. Light, fresh, and subtly sweet, it’s ideal for wear on hot summer days when heady fragrances are out of the question.

7. Wanderlust Ashwagandha Stress Support

An adaptogenic herb, ashwagandha has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries for its ability to moderate body systems and aid in adapting and responding to stress. While it traditionally has a bitter taste, the addition of peppermint oil in this formula helps offset that, making it easy to take. A few dropper fulls in half a glass of water daily goes a long way.
