Dolce & Gabbana Devotion Marks The Brand’s Foray Into Gourmand Scents

Dolce dolce dolce.

What does devotion smell like? According to Dolce & Gabbana, it’s positively delicious. For its latest fragrance release, the Italian luxury house has eschewed its signature floral and aquatic olfactory families for a delightfully delectable gourmand scent conceived by master perfumer Olivier Cresp.

Capturing the fashion house’s quintessential ‘Italianness’, Dolce & Gabbana Devotion sees luminous top notes of candied lemon intermingle with orange blossoms and vanilla to create a sweet scent reminiscent of panettone, the Italian dessert.

Available in 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml sizes, Dolce & Gabbana Devotion comes in a glass bottle adorned with a three-dimensional zamak metal sacred heart, a symbol said to encapsulate the house’s values. The antique-style touch transforms the bottle into a collectible objet d’art.

The accompanying campaign for Devotion stars Teenage Dream singer Katy Perry. Shot at the Marina Grande in Capri, Italy, it sees Perry taking in the sights on a sunny Mediterranean day, before locking eyes with a young local fisherman, played by Italian actor and model Michele Morrone. While they don’t exchange a word, the pair meet later at a party — some things are simply written in the stars (or at least on a script).

The Italian luxury house has also expanded its makeup line, with a dedicated Devotion collection. Comprising Illuminating Face Powder, Extreme Volume Mascara, and nine shades of Liquid Mousse Lipstick, the collection makes use of vegan and sustainable ingredients. Following the romantic tone of the fragrance release, the collection is designed to mimic the natural glow and radiance that comes with passion and intimacy — with more than a hint of Italian glamour thrown in for good measure. The hyper-sensorial Illuminating Face Powder imbues the complexion with a soft glow, while using your fingers to apply the Liquid Mousse Lipstick results in a perfectly imperfect ‘just been kissed’ finish.

The collection is priced from $59AUD and available via the David Jones webstore.
