Fortunately, dedicated sunscreen lip balms are a thing; and, like the recently transformed category of facial sun protection, options go beyond the utilitarian. Australian brand Ultra Violette has long been spearheading the cosmetically elegant sun care movement, with formulas that bridge the gap between sun protection and skincare, with chic packaging to boot.
Sitting amongst the brand’s array of face and body SPFs is Sheen Screen. A favourite here at AR, Sheen Screen is a lip gloss beloved for its nourishing, highly pigmented formula, glossy finish, and SPF50 rating. The only drawback? The slight eau de chemical scent and taste. While it hasn’t stopped us from fastidiously reapplying it throughout the day, the folks at Ultra Violette have worked to improve the overall user experience with a newly reformulated take on Sheen Screen.
Retaining its nourishing properties and SPF50 rating, Ultra Violette Screen Screen now boasts a subtle peppermint scent, while the previous applicator has been replaced with a silicone tip that contours to the shape of your lips for easier application. Sheen Screen has also received a costume change, swapping her old getup for a bright pink outfit.
Plus, four new shades have been added to the lineup, which now comprises six options. There’s Choc Top, a decadent warm chocolate brown; Bejewelled, a glistening peach-gold hue; Smoothie, a creamy mauve (formerly Rose); Blow Out, a light coral shade; Last Bite, a deep rich berry (formerly Bite); and Silk Pillow, a soft pink.
In addition to providing broad spectrum sun protection, Ultra Violette Sheen Screen is enriched with lanolin, shea butter, and cacao seed butter, which work to moisturise and condition the lips.
