Creed is perhaps best known for conveying power and sensuality with a lighter aromatic touch, with fragrances like Aventus, Millesime Imperial, Original Vetiver, Silver Mountain Water, and Green Irish Tweed delivering impact through fresh, clean, verdant scent profiles. Now, the niche perfume house is exploring its headier side, with a duo of amber fragrances.

Creed Centaurus and Delphinus mark the debut of a new lineup for the British perfume house, sitting within the Amber Universe. As the name suggests, the duo explore the captivating and sensual notes of resinous amber, with both scents quite literally looking to the universe for inspiration. Taking on a celestial tone, Delphinus and Centaurus are named after constellations; the former after a bright constellation in the northern sky that embodies the mythological dolphin sent by Poseidon to find Amphitrite and the latter for one of the largest constellations in the sky and the wise centaur Chiron of Greek mythology.
While neither fragrance in the Amber Universe is gendered, Creed Delphinus is undeniably the more archetypally feminine of the two. An opening of smoky incense, bright pink pepper, and sweet almond paste set a mysterious, alluring tone, underscored by powdery iris and heliotrope (which combine with the almond to create a glazed cherry scent). On the dry down, notes of patchouli, leather, tonka bean, and sweet bourbon vanilla linger on the skin.
Meanwhile, Creed Centaurus goes big and bold, with an olfactory composition befitting its namesake. Tobacco, pink pepper, cinnamon, and cardamom open to reveal sandalwood and soft jasmine, with a base of patchouli, tonka bean, balsam, and cosy benzoins. The opening is strong here, with the notes of cinnamon and tobacco lasting right through to the dry down, intermingling with the sweet bourbon vanilla that’s common to both scents.
The Creed Amber Universe was unveilled to Sydney lifestyle media and influencers at a launch party held at Shell House’s Clocktower Bar last month, with the warm interiors and floral settings by The Bespoke Boys providing a fitting backdrop for the sweet and spicy duo.
