Remote Living on a Beautiful Brazillian Island

Set on a private island in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, AB Residence by Brazillian design firm Jacobsen Arquitetura was designed with both aesthetics and the environment in mind. Strict environmental standards dictated the structure’s proximity to the sea as well as its height, maximum occupation of the land, and topography considerations.

Built with transparent facades, AB Residence invites nature in, while reducing the impact of the construction on the landscape. The use of a metallic structure and prefabricated wooden and glass panels ensured the raw materials were easy to transport, quick to assemble, required reduced labour, and minimal waste production, in addition to being easy to maintain and low cost in the long run.
