The Redesigned Hotel Daunou In Paris Takes Its Style Cues From Coco Chanel

Not far from the Palace Vendome in Paris sits Hotel Daunou, with the newly renovated luxury hotel taking its stylistic cues from the plethora of luxury brands in the area. Comprising 50 bedrooms – including a Grand Luxe suite with expansive views of Paris from the private terrace –  and a restaurant, the boutique hotel represents contemporary Parisian chic. Designed by Parisian design firm NOOOR, the brief for Hotel Daunou was to create a place equally suitable for a clientele of businessmen as it is for stakeholders in the fashion industry who visit during fashion weeks. With that in mind, NOOOR co-founders Séverine Rebout, Laurent Klein, and Philippe Tasso has carte blanche over the hotel design.

Envisioning the Hotel Daunou as an haute couture collection, the luxury accommodation site draws from the world of Coco Chanel. In the bedrooms, the lampshades feature a black couture trim while the headboards utilise a design that recalls the coromandel lacquer screens that Gabrielle Chanel had taking centre stage in her suite at the Ritz and in her apartment on the rue Cambon.

The strategic use of textiles takes guests from day to night, with tweeds and wools for the former and silks and prints for the latter. Harking back to the glamorous world of old Hollywood, the walls of each room are embellished with posters from the 1950s, featuring celebrities of the time. The bathrooms take on a more masculine approach, juxtaposing the atmosphere of the bedrooms. Sink basins are designed by NOOOR and crafted from Corian block with a raw granite finish.

Meanwhile, the breakfast room takes on a module approach, accommodating 40 patrons as well as a meeting room in an elegant yet welcoming space. Subdued khaki walls are partially embellished by a border stripe with geometric patterns and gold tones, with white leather benches, flecked fabric chairs, and embroidered silk sconces adding a touch of interest.
