The New ‘New Look’ Is Virtual; Dior Has Collaborated With Gran Turismo 7

The devil may wear Prada, but from 25th August onwards, the gamer will be able to don Dior. Kim Jones, menswear creative director at the French luxury fashion house, has collaborated with Gran Turismo on a track-ready capsule that comprises a yellow and gray Dior jumpsuit, reimagined Diorizon shoes, a blue and grey helmet, and the pièce de résistance; a customised De Tomaso Mangusta.

Specifically designed for the Gran Turismo 7 game, the capsule collection is entirely virtual. The inaugural Dior x Gran Turismo 7 pays homage to Christian Dior, with the hood of the cream coloured De Tomaso Mangusta sporting the number ‘47’, a nod to the year 1947 in which Monsieur Dior’s first show took place. The side panels of the car are also emblazoned with Dior decals that riff off the striped ‘Christian Dior Paris’ signature.

The De Tomaso Mangusta itself represents an important part of racing history, with the model manufactured during the 1960s and 1970s. Conceived by automotive designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, only around 401 De Tomaso Mangusta — also dubbed the ‘mongoose’ — models were made, making it a difficult car to come by in the real world.
