Aimé Leon Dore has once again collaborated with Porsche on a one-off vehicle that embodies throwback elegance. Representing the third time the New York City-based lifestyle brand and the German marque have linked up, the resultant ALD Porsche 356 takes on a different tone to the duo’s first two collaborations, both of which were 911s.

Working with a 1960 Porsche 356 — the 911’s direct predecessor — emphasis was placed on clean lines and design purity, with the bumpers in the front and back removed to create a streamlined silhouette. Disk brakes with brushed aluminium alloy wheels wrapped in white wall tires have been retrofitted onto the vehicle, creating a subtle two-tone effect that complements the glossy midnight blue paint job.

A hand-painted Aimé Leon Dore crest in gold leaf adorns the front fender while new period-specific fog lights contribute to the retro feel. Mounted on the grille above the engine are three specially designed grille badges that recall the once-customary emblems of clubs or motorsport events.

The interiors prioritise style and comfort in equal measure. Midnight blue leather seats with tonal stitching and a complementary tartan pattern on the centre section set a refined tone. Seat backrests and floor mats are upholstered in alpaca leather while the steering wheel is borrowed from the top model of the time, the Porsche 365 Carrera 2.

The one-off — and not-for-sale — Aimé Leon Dore Porsche 356 made its debut at the lifestyle label’s Manhattan flagship store re-opening on the 5th of May, and is viewable there. As with previous collaborations, there’s an accompanying capsule collection that allows you to own a piece of the automotive magic.

The Aimé Leon Dore x Porsche capsule collection is available to shop via the brand’s webstore.
