Aesthetic restraint and impressive complications collide in the Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon

- Parmigiani Fleurier celebrates its 30th anniversary with the release of the Carillon Tourbillon
- An ultra-complicated watch, the Carillon Tourbillon pairs a minute repeater with four gongs and four hammers with a 60-second tourbillon
- It’s housed within a 41.6mm white gold gadrooned case with a hand-hammered dial in Parmigiani’s signature shade of ice blue
- The dial is kept intentionally minimalistic, with only the hammer and gongs on display
- The tourbillon and power reserve indicator are visible through the exhibition caseback, which shows the minute repeater movement, which comprises 456 components, on display
- The movement in question is the in-house calibre PF950, manually wound minute repeater movement with an impressive 10-day power reserve

Bee-still my heart, Tudor has released an optimistic take on the Black Bay Chrono

- Tudor has unveiled the new Black Bay Chrono ‘Bumblebee’, which joins the ‘Pink’ and ‘Flamingo Blue’ variants within the Daring collection
- Notably, the Bumblebee is housed within a sized down case, measuring 39mm
- The moniker is a nod to the newcomer’s vibrant yellow dial, which plays host to a bicompax subdial layout with black chronograph counters
- It’s powered by the in-house calibre MT5813, an automatic COSC-certified column-wheel movement based off the Breitling B01 architecture — i.e. the same movement as the larger 41mm variant
Price: $9480AUD

Louis Vuitton releases a soccer ball clock (for the children!)

- To commemorate a decade as a partner of UNICEF, Louis Vuitton has created a clock inspired by a soccer ball in collaboration with Swiss clockmaker L’Épée 1839, which will be auctioned off at Sotheby’s to raise money for the charity
- The clock, dubbed the Louis Vuitton Unity Time Object, capitalises on the global love of football, arriving ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
- The Louis Vuitton Unity Time Object measures 150mm in diameter and sees a steel frame comprised of individual hexagonal forms secured to each other with golden brackets to form a sphere (or, a soccer ball)
- The upper half of the sphere encircles a dome comprising two rotating segments, with the hours displayed through a hexagon at the top and the lower rotating segment showcasing the minutes. The hour and minute hexagons are differentiated diamonds set around the hexagonal bezel; white for hours and black for minutes
- The lower half of the sphere shows off the skeletonised movement by L’Épée 1839 that powers the clock, with the in-house calibre 1839 MV.7452/000 a manually wound movement (wound using a key) with a power reserve of 8 days
- Naturally, the clock is presented in a monogrammed Louis Vuitton case

Dennison and Collectability link up again

- Dennison and John Reardon of Collectability have collaborated for the second time, releasing the limited-edition Oblique

- The Oblique Enigma has a two-tone dial with an inner blue sunburst finish framed by a metallic border (with a finish that matches the case) framed by a sunburst green outer
- The Oblique Vector takes a different approach, nodding to the asymmetric case with twelve lines radiating from the centre, resulting in a minimalistic yet dynamic take on the concept
- Both editions are available in untreated and gold-plated stainless steel

Awake puts the ancestral techniques of Sơn Mài and guilloché on the dial

- Microbrand Awake is known for its use of métiers d’art in its pieces
- Here, the brand spotlights the ancestral techniques of guilloché and Sơn Mài, the latter a lacquer technique from Vietnam
- The trio of models are inspired by celestial phenomena; there’s the Borealis (green), Alba (orange), and Sunset (pink/purple), each executed in a gradient lacquer style
- Housed within a 38mm stainless steel case, ach timepiece represents a fusion of cultures; the Guilloché Main is performed in Italy on a traditional guilloché lathe before being sent to Hanoi, Vietnam to receive the Son Mài lacquer treatment, which involves several layers of lacquer enriched with natural pigments
- Awake collaborated with the Renzetti family, one of the last European workshops dedicated to Guilloché Main, to create the pieces
- The Awake Sơn Mài Guilloché Main is powered by the La Joux-Perret G101, an automatic movement with a 68-hour power reserve
