PUBLISHED BY Combines Technology With Tradition In SS21 Collection

Austrian fashion house PUBLISHED BY launched an innovative digital-first collection, with each piece crafted using digital 3D modeling and prototyping programs. Founded by creative director Christoph Tsetinis in 2017, the collaborative brand creates technologically minded products influenced by nature.

Through the utilisation of 3D printing, recycled car parts, injection moulding, digital animation, 3D real-time rendering, and cloth simulation, PUBLISHED BY works to reduce waste and bypass the constraints of traditional manufacturing and supply chains.

In contrast to the innovative technology employed, the SS21 collection was inspired by the isolated town of Kaikōura in New Zealand. Founder and designer Christoph Tsetinis spent a week in Kaikōura, cut off from the rest of the world. “There was no cell service, no internet. It’s a beautiful, almost prehistoric place like no other, where you wouldn’t be surprised to see a Triceratops walk on by,” he said of the experience. In what marks PUBLISHED BY’s first use of colour other than silver and black, SS21 introduces chrome stone bags, designed to capture the essence of Kaikōura’s beautiful golden hour.

The nature-driven collection was also inspired by the depths of the South Pacific Ocean, with Tsenitis reimagining pieces as otherworldly artefacts emerging from under the sea; seen in the use of beads, reminiscent of sea life.

Relics of a time past, the SS21 Little Secrets accessories collection combines contemporary sterling silver with 1600s silhouettes, evoking images of historic vessel rings. Traditionally, these pieces contained hidden compartments used to conceal poison, before evolving into special object holders.

“As a kid I was fascinated by a locket my grandmother wore with a secret compartment. Wearing these small keepsakes emits a holy, devotional energy. These accessories hide precious items that are often meaningless to other people but are priceless to the wearer,” Tsentinis said of the impetus behind the SS21 Little Secrets accessories.

The PUBLISHED BY SS21 collection is available from November onwards from the label’s webstore.
