Audemars Piguet Designed A Chic, Minimalist Suite For Eco-Friendly Whitepod Hotel

Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet has unveiled a timelessly minimal suite for Whitepod Hotel, an eco-resort set in the picturesque Swiss Alps. situated on the Dents-du-Midi mountain range, Whitepod Hotel blends luxury with sustainability, prioritising an appreciation for nature. The Timeless Suite by Audemars Piguet is one of 18 pods that comprise Whitepod Hotel, with the watch manufacturer imbuing the pod with the meticulous craftsmanship and eye for design that the brand has become known for since its inception in 1875.

Rather than use their own in-house designers, Audemars Piguet held a competition to find the best emerging design firms, selecting Bénédicte Meynet and Singal Depéry-Moesch to carry out the project. The resultant cocoon-like pod provides guests with a “multi-sensory experience,” working to stimulate all five senses. The Swiss pine used throughout the pod emits a soothing woody aroma, while the fluffy wool carpet and organic concrete create a variety of touch sensations through textural differences. Guests at the Timeless Suite can enjoy artisanal teas while a relacing nature soundtrack plays in the background, with the pod’s lighting even moving in sync with the music. Best of all, the suite features its own private outdoor terrace complete with a Nordic bath, so you can soothe tense muscles while soaking in the idyllic mountain view.

Audemar Piguet’s influence on the pod is a subtle one; save for the green and grey mineral hues in the bathroom (reflecting the watch manufacturer’s corporate colours), there are no specific brand designs or overt horological references. However, a core element of the architecture does draw from the beauty of mechanical watchmaking. “The architecture is based on a watchmaking concept called ‘cardiac coherence’,” Whitepod COO Hugo Pozzo di Borgo told Robb Report. “Ancestral mechanical watches have a rhythm, like a metronome, on which the heart beats. With the light and sound experience—three different types of music and lighting—based on this cardiac coherence, guests of the suite can relax or meditate in a natural way.”

The Timeless Suite starts at approximately $1,626 USD (approx. $2285 AUD) per night, including breakfast for two and a welcome bottle of champagne. Check out the Whitepod Hotel website for more information.
