This $150 Million Wellness Club Brings Ancient Roman Bathing To Melbourne

Coalescing the aesthetics of ancient Grecian and Roman baths with the dynamic of a private members club, Saint Haven is set to redefine notions of luxury wellness come 2023. The brainchild of Tim Gurner, founder and director of Gurner Group, Saint Haven is more akin to a wellness sanctuary than a gym.

Located in Collingwood, Melbourne, Saint Haven is touted as a place to not only focus on wellness, but develop lifelong social connections. Inspired by eight pillars of wellness, the offering spans practices inspired by modern science and ancient wisdom across performance, strength, nutrition, treatment, anti-ageing and recovery principles.

Set to open its doors early next year, Saint Haven comprises a holistic bar (complete with non-alcoholic cocktails and nootropic beverages) and restaurant modelled off the principle ‘food is medicine’, six distinct performance and training zones, and holistic medicinal and ancient treatments. The inclusion of a members’ lounge and co-working space helps embrace social connection, something Gurner claims is one of the most important elements of health.

The conceptualisation of Saint Haven was heavily inspired by Gurner’s own health and wellness journey. “Throughout my wellness journey, I had always seen it as a limitation of the industry that I could never access all the treatments and services together in one place, it was always one venue for a gym, another for a recovery studio, and another for medicinal or alternative health treatments,” said Tim Gurner. No one has ever integrated it all into one holistic space.”

The $150 million health and wellness club is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment sourced from the likes of Technogym, Walden Meditation accessories, Watson Dumbella, Rough Strength & Conditioning, and PLAE racking and accessories. The investment in the fit-out alone is estimated to be over $7 million.

A series of recovery, anti-ageing, and biohacking experiences are available in a serene environment that recalls ancient Roman and Grecian baths. Treatments include cryotherapy, infrared saunas, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV infusion therapies, vitamin C-infused showers, and hot and cold thermal pools enriched with pure and unpolluted Himalayan rock salts and minerals.

Membership is offered on a case-by-case basis, with members able to pay for different services that can range from approximately $130 AUD a week to upwards of $1000 AUD a week for unlimited access.

As Gurner puts it: “Think of it as the Four Seasons of wellness.”

Saint Haven is set to open its doors to members in March 2023.
