With many creative directors continuing to express their ideas of what a post-pandemic wardrobe should resemble, Daniel Lee, creative director at Bottega Veneta, has found his platonic ideal in the sweet space between essentials and excess.
With one seemingly cancelling out the other, Bottega Veneta Wardrobe 02 – the brand’s version of Pre-Fall 2021 – collocates feathered two-piece sets with plush dressing gowns, sequined gowns with durable trench coats, and tweed suiting in staid tones with tailoring in bold hues. Comprising menswear and womenswear, Bottega Veneta Wardrobe 02 finds its footing in the space between fabulous and effortless.
Lee’s favoured shade of Bottega Green features prominently, making its way onto suiting, sequined dresses, a patent leather coat, and feathered pants. Balancing out the rich variety of materials – think sequins, nylon, crystals, and glitter – is a minimalistic approach to silhouettes and cuts; both are simple and effortless. Geometric skirt suits with nipped waists, pleated dresses, sharp menswear suiting, cashmere sweaters, knit dresses, relaxed outerwear, and turtlenecks provide easy-to-wear options amongst the eccentricity, making for a collection that revels in the act of juxtaposition.
