Sydney is typically not privy to exclusive sartorial experiences, with these privileges bestowed upon the fashion capitals of New York, Paris, Milan, Shanghai, and London. However, times are changing with increasingly more experiences being brought down under. Now, Louis Vuitton has set up a temporary residency in the Sydney CBD, located on the corner of Pitt and King Streets. Part of a global series of men’s fashion events termed ‘Walk in the Park’, the residency is rooted in the inclusive values at the heart of the late Virgil Abloh’s work, showcasing the mutually beneficial relationship between the designer and his community.

The temporary residency’s tenure in Sydney follows dalliances in Paris, New York, and Shibuya, with the pop-up inviting visitors to discover iconic sneakers and accessories, spanning men’s collections from SS19 to SS22. The temporary residency also offers a unique opportunity to obtain reissues and new limited-edition takes on sneakers, sunglasses, and jewellery.
The temporary residency features over forty styles of sneakers, including numerous iterations of the trademark LV Trainer initially introduced in SS19. Notably, the luxury French fashion house has created its LV Trainer in an exclusive Sydney colourway, with just 100 pairs issued. Utilising the upcycling technology conceived by Abloh as part of the SS21 collection, the new Sydney edition is crafted entirely from upcycled LV Trainer material. Other exclusives include 1.1 Millionaire Sunglasses in purple and a Monogram Kite, the latter of which was featured in both Abloh’s first and final shows.
Central to the temporary residency is a 7.5m sculpture of Virgil Abloh, that spans into the second storey and quite literally presides over the entire operation.
