Never one to shy away from kitsch, Jeremy Scott has once again provided the ideal antidote to minimalism. Vibrant, joyful, and a little trashy, the Moschino SS22 collection pays homage to Americana, with the collection presented in the form of an oh-so-camp Moschino musical, starring legendary supermodel Karen Elson.

The third film Scott has made for Moschino, Lightning Strikes: The Moschino Musical takes place in a classic American 50s diner, where we meet Karen Elson, a waitress who dreams of a life beyond the tedium of pouring coffee. References to Guys and Dolls appear in the form of coloured pinstripe jackets and suiting, with sartorial references zig-zagging across the 40s to the 80s in a haphazard mismatch of clothing. Graphic comics adorn suiting, outerwear, and shirt dresses; quintessential diner dishes cover tracksuits; and bold, color-blocked pieces feature. As usual, accessories never disappoint, with bags taking shape as burgers, pinball machines, and a graphic suit, as well as some more conventional offerings.
