Dive In; Omega Seamaster 75th Anniversary Collection

For three quarters of a century, the Omega Seamaster has graced the wrists of seasoned underwater explorers, diving enthusiasts, and even a James Bond or two. Since its inception in 1948, the iconic dive watch has transformed from a single utilitarian tool watch into a collection that encompasses timepieces sophisticated enough to sport on the red carpet, while still being able to take a splash.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Omega Seamaster, the Swiss manufacture has unveiled a melange of tribute releases. Clad in a dedicated shade of ‘Summer Blue’ — used in varying degrees to reflect the water resistance of each Seamaster — the 75th anniversary Seamaster collection spans 11 references across seven models.

From models that effortlessly flit from under a suit cuff to underwater, to those designed to withstand the pressures of the deepest depths of the watery abyss, the comprehensive lineup proves there’s a Seamaster for everyone.

Aqua Terra

An elegant interpretation of the Seamaster 300 of 1957, the Aqua Terra finds sophistication in subtlety. Available in 38mm and 41mm stainless steel case sizes — powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 and Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8900, respectively — the Aqua Terra nods to its nautical heritage through its teak pattern which references yacht decks and sailboat indexes. The light sun-brushed Summer Blue dial reflects the timepieces water resistance of 150m.

Aqua Terra Worldtimer

For the suave traveller who isn’t afraid to get a little wet, the Aqua Terra Worldtimer is the most sartorially-minded timepiece of the lot. Encased in a 43mm stainless steel case (and presented on a matching bracelet or blue rubber strap), the titanium dial plays host to laser-abated texturing and a silver reproduction of the Earth as viewed from above the North Pole. A 24-hour reading uses light blue and dark blue shades to distinguish day from night, with the timepiece water resistant to 150m, in line with the rest of the Aqua Terra lineup.

Seamaster 300

Launched in 1957, alongside the Railmaster and Speedmaster, as part of the ‘professional’ trilogy, the Seamaster 300 placed function first. Its easy-to-read display and optimal water resistance made it a favourite among divers of the time. Now, the new Seamaster 300, powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8912, takes its design cues from the original with a symmetrical case, varnished Summer Blue dial with a gradient finish and pared-black display, and ceramic blue bezel. Traversing the depths of the sea with ease, it’s water resistant to 300m.

Diver 300M

Shockingly, this one’s also water resistant to 300m! First released in 1993, the Diver 300M provided deep-sea adventurers with a stylish way to keep track of elapsed time underwater. Fitted with a helium escape valve, the 42mm stainless steel timepiece features a Summer Blue wave-patterned ceramic dial with rhodium-plated skeleton hands and raised indexes, encircled by a blue ceramic bezel. It’s kept beating by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800.

Planet Ocean 600M

Most at home beneath the surface, the Planet Ocean 600M is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 and comes in a compact 39.5mm stainless steel case. A blue ceramic bezel with light blue diving scale surrounds the varnished gradiented Summer Blue dial. As the name suggests it boasts depth resistance to 600m.

Ploprof

The name is derived from the French ‘PLOngeur PROfessionnel’ (or ‘professional diver’) and is designed to withstand the crushing pressures of the deep sea. The monobloc design eliminates the need for a helium valve, with its bezel ring crafted from sapphire crystal, mirroring the chemically reinforced monolithic crystal used in early versions. Crafted from O-mega Steel (a proprietary alloy), the Ploprof measures in at a hefty 55 x 45mm, is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8912, and is water resistant to 1200m.

Ultra Deep

A horological tribute to the Swiss manufacture’s record-setting 10,935m dive to the Mariana Trench, the Ultra Deep boasts a water resistance befitting of its name. Able to traverse 6000m under the sea, the Ultra Deep is crafted from O-mega Steel and features a lacquered dial that reveals the words ‘Omega Was Here’ when passed under UV light. At its heart is the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8912, the same calibre that powers the Ploprof.
