The Puma x AMI Winter Collection Is For The Perfectly Tailored Hiker

Parisian lifestyle house AMI and German multinational sporting brand Puma have joined forces for the second time, to create a collaborative capsule collection that sees outdoor design signatures meet tailoring savoir-faire. Deviating from the neutral hues or nature-inspired colour palettes typically employed with outdoor collections, the Puma x AMI winter collection makes use of vibrant, saturated hues.

Inspired by a longing for freedom and a desire to explore new horizons, the collection fuses Puma’s sportswear heritage with AMI’s flair for tailoring. “I wanted this collection to be a perfect balance between our two worlds,” says Alexandre Mattiussi, founder and creative director of AMI. “The goal was a playful, colourful collection, rich in volume and in extravagant details. It is a new chapter on the story we began developing during our last collaboration. We are now taking things further.”

“Together, we have been on a journey from wardrobe essentials to cosy, cocoon-like pieces you want to cuddle up with,” explains Heiko Desens, global creative director of Puma. “This season, it is all about softness, oversized volumes, layering and draping with outdoors and hiking-inspired elements, which creates a certain sense of chic, but also a feel-good sensation.”

An energetic colour palette of bright orange, baby blue, bubblegum pink, moss green, and purple is complemented by beige, cream, and brown tones. Comprising menswear and womenswear, the collection spans AMI classics such as carrot trousers, straight-line brushed coats, and t-shirts, as well as hoodies and sweatpants, functional fleece jackets with generous patch pockets, and down puffer jackets. A co-branded logo — that sees AMI’s signature AMI de Coeur symbol united with the Puma stamp — is emblazoned across a range of pieces in the collection.

The Puma Rider sneaker gets the AMI treatment, with the ‘80s running shoe given a tonal ‘70s makeover. Available in shades of orange, green, or blue, they’re well-suited to colour-blocking with the rest of the collection. For a more hiker-inspired silhouette, the TRC Blaze Mid fits the bill. Accessories include a puffy backpack, crossbody bag, bucket hats, and striped beanies and scarves.

The accompanying campaign for the collaboration was shot by photographer David Paige and is fronted by singer-songwriter GIVĒON and model and activist Quannah Chasinghorse.
