Versace FW21 Goes Goyard With Revamped Greco Logo

If it wasn’t patently obvious, the Versace FW21 collection saw the debut of a new monogram. Titled La Greca, it’s a riff on Versace’s heritage Greek Key and takes centre stage in a repeated, all-over style. Emblazoned across, ready to wear, leather goods and accessories, and jewellery, the monogram bears a striking resemblance to Goyard’s signature monogram, with a little Fendi thrown in.

Rather than compete with the almost-overpowering monogram for dominance, the garments themselves take on the silhouettes we’ve become accustomed to in a post-quarantine world. Easy to wear pieces in comfortable materials like sweater vests, lurex knit pants, sheer tights, silk twin sets, and easy tailoring in a monogram-laden neutral palette were underlined by retro outerwear, an interspersion of bold colours, skimpy hemlines, and the occasional slinky dress or skirt and top set.

The Versace FW21 collection saw Gigi Hadid make her first runway appearance following the birth of her daughter. “Models are like actors; they bring the designs to life,” said Donatella Versace of the collection, named ‘Step Inside La Greca’.
