While far from a new concept, the capsule wardrobe has gained traction for its ability to not only simplify the day-to-day process of getting dressed but also reduce one’s individual impact on people and the planet. Swedish label ASKET is one such brand committed to the pursuit of less. Founded in 2015 by August Bard-Bringeus and Jakob Dworksy, the brand is built on transparently and ethically produced ‘meaningful essentials’ that combine to create a versatile capsule wardrobe.
Each ASKET garment is designed to be timeless; staying in your daily rotation long after the season changes. Initially launching with menswear essentials, ASKET recently introduced a womenswear permanent collection. Beginning with a foundation of timeless essentials — a white t-shirt, classic white shirt, and straight-cut jeans — in 2021, the womenswear collection has slowly expanded to comprise other core pieces such as lyocell shirts, t-shirts and long-sleeved shirts in other neutral hues, tank tops, and knitwear.
Intended to be mixed and matched to create a multitude of outfit variations, these are our favourite pieces from the ASKET womenswear permanent collection.
1. The T-Shirt
A slightly loose fit with a ribbed neckline, this tee works on its own or styled under a classic white shirt.
2. The Standard Jeans
Available in a light and medium blue wash or a grey wash, these mid-rise straight-cut jeans transcend ephemeral trends. ASKET’s extended sizing system allows you to select your build (straighter or curvier), inseam length, and waist size to ensure the perfect fit.
3. The Shirt
A white button-down shirt is often touted as the cornerstone of any good capsule wardrobe and ASKET’s take on the staple definitely fits the bill. Cut slightly oversize, it works thrown over blue denim and a tank top for casual occasions or tucked into a pair of tailored trousers for office-appropriate attire.
4. The Lyocell Shirt
