Designed to take you on a relaxing, sensory holiday, both the gender-neutral 1800 Tequila Afar fragrance and edible spritz embody the flavours and scents of the tequila region.

Created in collaboration with fragrance specialist Samantha Taylor from The Powder Room, the Afar fragrance and Afar spritz are intended to be used in tandem, with the latter sprayed into a bespoke 1800 Tequila cocktail. The 1800 Tequila Afar fragrance features top notes of agave, grapefruit, lemon, and verbena, underscored by middle and base notes of green leaves, sea salt, florals, cedarwood, and sandalwood. Meanwhile, the complimentary Afar edible spritz is based on a flavour palette of 1800 Silver Tequila, papaya, grapefruit, and lime.
“1800 Tequila is the world’s most awarded 100% agave Tequila, with over 200 years of family expertise distilled into every drop. We thought it only fitting to bring this craftsmanship to a new kind of experience,” said Hayley Dixon, specialist at Proximo Spirits, on the impetus behind creating the Afar duo. “The past two years have robbed us of overseas travel and with borders reopening, we were inspired to bring the essence of travel to life in a new, multi-sensorial way.”
To enjoy the Afar fragrance and spritz to their full extent, Dixon created a bespoke 1800 cocktail to pair with the experience.
1800 Tequila Afar Cocktail
Ingredients
40ml 1800 Silver Tequila
20ml apricot nectar
15ml sugar
35ml lemon juice
1 dash Angostura Bitters
3ml absinthe
45ml dry tonic
Dehydrated pineapple
A spritz of Afar Edible Cocktail Spritz
Directions
In a highball glass over ice, add the 1800 Silver Tequila, apricot nectar, sugar, lemon juice, Angostura Bitters, and absinthe, before topping with dry tonic water. Garnish with dried pineapple and spritz with Afar Edible Cocktail Spritz to transport you to a distant shore.
