Porsche Unveils Goldilocks 911 Carrera S With More (Petrol) Power

  • The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S comes with a 3.0-litre flat-six engine and a PDK dual clutch transmission (no manual option) that churns out 473 bhp and 390 ft lb of torque
  • It’s now the most powerful turbocharged, non-hybrid two-door Porsche, covering the 0 to 100km/h dash in 3.3 seconds and coming with a top speed of 308 km/h
  • The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S is available as a coupe or cabriolet, with prices starting at $342,700AUD before ORC

If you’re of the opinion that the Porsche Carrera GTS T-Hybrid is a little too much and the Porsche Carrera is not quite enough, why Porsche has the Carrera for you. The new Porsche Carrera S represents something of a Goldilocks model, sitting between the base Carrera and hybrid Carrera GTS models.

Now in its 992.2 era, the Porsche Carrera S sees the standard 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine receive an upgrade courtesy of new turbochargers and optimised charge-air cooling, delivering an increased output of 30 ponies over its predecessor. That brings it up to 473 bhp, teamed with 390 ft lb of torque, making it on par with the 992.1 generation Carrera GTS. Power is sent to the rear wheels by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK), with the seven-speed manual option having been discontinued. Those desirous of a manual transmission will have to look to the 911 GT3 or manual-only 911 Carrera T.

The Carrera S Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 308 km/h. Both the coupe and cabriolet models take their styling cues from full-fat sports cars, swiping their brakes off the 911 Carrera GTS, with discs measuring 408 millimetres at the front and 380 mm on the rear, complemented by red brake callipers. These are mated to staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels and a sports exhaust system with silver tailpipes. The 911 Carrera S sees Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) come as standard (not available in the base Carrera), which transforms the rear differential from a mechanically controlled unit to one equipped with electronic control.

Available upon request are the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system and the PASM sports suspension, the latter of which drops the ride height by 10 millimetres and features optimised driver hydraulics compared to its predecessor. Naturally, Porsche claims this improves steering and handling.

Inside, the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S comes with black leather interiors as standard, with seats, headrests, dashboard, door panels, and the optional folding rear seat system (no charge) in the coupe trimmed with smooth leather. An add-on allows you to extend the leather to the glove box lid, the side panels, and the seat base, with the option to add contrast stitching in Crayon.

Should the Goldilocks 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S pique your interest, you’ll be looking at starting prices of $342,700AUD for the coupe and $365,400AUD for the cabriolet (both before ORC).
