CARTIER opens at the NGV

A groundbreaking Cartier exhibition has opened at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). Comprising almost 400 pieces of jewellery, timepieces, and jewellery objects, the exhibition charts Cartier’s peerless legacy in art, design, and craftsmanship. Beginning in the early 20th century and leading up to Cartier’s contemporary creations, the exhibition chronicles the rise of the French maison, with pieces accompanied by design drawings, sketchbooks, and photographs from the archives.
Curated by London’s V&A in partnership with the NGV and in collaboration with Cartier, the CARTIER exhibition includes loans from significant international collections and private owners, alongside pieces from the maison’s collections.
The CARTIER exhibition runs from the 12th of June to the 4th of October 2026.
Wynn Hamlyn bids a cosy farewell with final knitwear collection

Two months after announcing an indefinite pause in operations, New Zealand designer Wynn Hamlyn has dropped a farewell knitwear collection for his eponymous brand. Featuring reworked favourites from a decade of operation, the WH 10-Year Knitwear Capsule revisits old motifs and is modelled by familiar faces. Highlights include a contrast two-tone cable knit joined by a basket stitch and a cardigan with crochet flower appliques.

Alessandro Michele wants to make Villain Teen happen

Valentino has signalled the arrival of resortwear as a key moment, rather than a mere bridging collection between fall/winter and spring/summer, with creative director Alessandro Michele dropping a co-ed collection with over 60 looks. Presented as a lookbook shot at Villa Gaia Gandini, a fifteenth-century estate in Milan, Valentino Cruise 2027 marks the introduction of the ‘Villain Teen’, a set of roguish characters who arrive on site amidst their lace- and feather-adorned friends in a tracksuit emblazoned with “You Can Come to My Villa” or a baseball cap or t-shirt with their assigned enfant terrible status. The maison’s signature Rockstud heels also make an appearance, proving the 2000s cougar staple really does have enduring appeal.
Gentle Monster’s newest collection is good enough to eat

Proving that even the produce aisle is ripe for sartorial inspiration, Gentle Monster’s newest collection is inspired by vegetables. The Korean eyewear and accessories label’s aptly named ‘Veggie Collection’ interprets vegetables through a surrealist lens to create covetable optical and sun protection eyewear. The result is subtle rather than literal, with the collection reflecting the minute aesthetic details of vegetables; the way the stems and vines unfurl and twist, skins bruise to form delicate colour gradients, and leaves curl gracefully. Dashes of acid green nod to broccoli stems, while sungold tomatoes are seen in tortoiseshell flecks.
The Veggie Collection is accompanied by immersive pop-up installations in Los Angeles, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, and Bangkok, which feature a large tomato surrounded by ‘Veggiemon’ creatures.

State of Escape makes its mark in Tokyo

State of Escape has expanded its retail footprint to Japan, unveiling its first store in Tokyo’s Midtown Hibiya, a mixed-use space close to the Ginza shopping precinct. Defined by light, airy tones, the space is anchored by an oversized Ficus benjamina—or weeping fig—plant, encircled by a wooden bench. The native Australian plant is joined by a handcrafted totem by Australian sculpture artist Clementine Stoney Maconachie.
The physical expansion into the Japanese capital coincides with a decade of commercial operations in the country, with the Australian accessories brand currently stocked by leading retailers including Ron Herman, Barneys New York, Isetan, and Hankyu.
“Opening in Tokyo marks a significant milestone in our global expansion strategy and reinforces our commitment to key international markets,” shares Desley Maidment, co-founder and CEO or State of Escape. “Japan’s discerning consumers hold a strong appreciation for quality and craftsmanship that align strongly with our brand values. We see ongoing, long-term growth potential in the region and view this as a key step in strengthening our market position to drive sustained commercial momentum.
The State of Escape boutique is located at Level 1, Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, 1 Chome-1-2 Yurakucho, Chiyoda City, Tokyo, Japan.
Yu Mei expands into ready-to-wear

Yu Mei has made its foray into womenswear, with the New Zealand leather goods brand debuting its inaugural ready-to-wear collection at the City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi as part of Wellington’s Common Material fashion and design event. Rendered in cashmere, wool, and silk, the 36-piece collection puts forward easy-wearing silhouettes that draw from men’s tailoring. A colour palette of olive green, chocolate brown, and cream with pops of fuschia represents a refreshing departure from conventional neutrals.

Gucci races onto the track with impending Formula 1 debut

Gucci has entered the grid, announcing a new business venture, Gucci Racing. The luxury fashion house has partnered with the Alpine Formula One Team, which will race in the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship as the ‘Gucci Racing Alpine Formula One Team’ and compete in Gucci colours.
Gucci shares that the partnership will extend beyond the track, with initiatives around content and exclusive client experiences to come over the coming seasons.
“This partnership with Alpine Formula One Team writes a new chapter: Gucci becomes the first luxury fashion house to serve as Title Partner in Formula One,” says Francesca Bellettini, president and CEO of Gucci. “That reflects our ambition for the brand and the role we want Gucci to play on this stage.”
Charli xcx enlists a stacked cast for her new album cover

Just when we thought Kith had sovereignty over campaigns starring male celebrities of pension age, Charli xcx has entered the chat. The British singer-songwriter announced her new album Music, Fashion, Film, with an icon from each industry on the cover. Arriving in black-and-white, the album cover stars John Cale, Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorsese, representing music, fashion, and film, respectively.
