Alfa Romeo Marks A Century Of The Quadrifoglio By Upping The Horsepower

How best to pay homage to a racing legend? With more horsepower, of course. In honour of the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio celebrating a century, the Italian marque has released two new limited-edition anniversary models of the Giulia and Stelvio. Each 100th Anniversario model is limited to 100 exclusive units, differentiated from the rest by enhanced power, additional features, and exclusive touches.

The Quadrifoglio made its debut on the 15th of April, 1923, when Italian race car driver Ugo Sivocci won that year’s Targa Florio in an Alfa Romeo RL, which bore the four-leaf clover that has come to define the line. Originally used as a good luck charm, the four-leaf clover symbol is now found on models in the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio line, as well as vintage Alfa Romeo race cars and contemporary F1 cars.

Under the hood, both models sport the same Ferrari-created 2.9-litre Bi-Turbo V6 engine, albeit with a minor power bump to 513bhp — up from 503bhp — for Europe, the UK, and China. The extra power is accompanied by a mechanical limited slip differential, which utilises tuning derived from the Giulia GTA to provide better traction and optimise torque transfer, improving stability, agility, and cornering speeds.

The use of lightweight materials like aluminium for the engine and carbon fibre for the driveshaft, bonnet, spoiler, and side skirts results in optimal aerodynamics. The Giulia employs active aerodynamics in the form of the carbon front splitter; when activated, it controls the quality of airflow passing under the vehicle, resulting in increased stability and performance. Meanwhile, the standard Akrapovič ensures the V6 doesn’t go unheard, allowing for a singular symphony with every rev.

Both Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversario models are outfitted with new ‘3+3’ headlights with an adaptive Full-LED Matrix technology that offers anti-glare and an adaptive driving beam to provide favourable lighting in all conditions. Behind the wheels, exclusive gold brake calipers complement the deep green paint job, with the golden hue also distinguishing the emblem celebrating 100 years of the Quadrifoglio, positioned on the front wing of both cars. Grille and mirror caps finished in naked carbon fibre serve to enhance the aggressive aesthetics of the vehicles. The 100th Anniversario models are available in three body colours — Rosso Etna, Verde Montreal, and Nero Vulcano — but let’s be honest; it’s Verde Montreal all the way.
