In This Utopian Future, All The World Is Porsche And All The Men And Women Merely Drivers In Them

Think pink (& electric).

With an increasing number of marques introducing and even shifting entirely towards electric models, an all-electric future isn’t an inconceivable concept. But what about an all-electric, all-Porsche future? More specifically, a future where every car is a Porsche Taycan in an alluring shade of pink (the German marque refers to it as Frozen Berry Metallic). While the proposed uniform nature on the roads would serve to limit individuality in a manner somewhat akin to a dystopian society, being that the model of choice is a Porsche Taycan, to us it’s nothing short of utopia.

The images of a purely Porsche future were shot by conceptual photographer Tomek Makolski, who rose to prominence within the car community when his hyper-real images of a life-size Lego 911 GT3 RS navigating the streets of night-time Warsaw went viral. This time, the Polish photographer was given free rein by Porsche to interpret the all-electric Taycan. Oh, and there was just a single Taycan involved, as opposed to a fleet of them.

Taking a futuristic approach to the project Makolski embarked on an exploratory roadtrip through Europe, in search of dream-like landscapes to execute his vision. Covering around 3000km, Makolski’s journey began at Porsche in Stuttgart and spanned across Munich, Innsbruck, through the Austrian Alps, Monaco, and Marseille.

Partially inspired by the 2013 film Her, directed by Spike Lee and starring Joaquin Phoenix, he primarily sought out urban and futuristic landscapes that juxtaposed colour and vibrancy with stark modernity. “It was very futuristic,” Makolski explained, “but on the other hand much of the aesthetic was from the 1970s and 80s: lots of similar colours and very clean architecture and backdrops. I wanted that in my project.”

“The Taycan, especially in Frozen Berry, looks amazing – almost alien,” said the Polish photographer, “so I decided to multiply it in each location to increase that futuristic, almost sci-fi atmosphere. But there is no CGI or rendering as I knew that would look too artificial. So once I had found the right frame, I parked the car in every single position.” With multiple photographs shot in each location, London-based creative studio INK was able to overlay them to produce an image to bring Makolski’s vision of an all Taycan world to life.

A self-proclaimed petrolhead, the journey also served to initiate Makolski into the joys of electric vehicles. “For me it’s hard to say goodbye to the combustion engine because driving is my passion,” he said. “I have to admit that I was really against electric cars, but driving the Taycan somehow convinced me. It’s really relaxing and quiet, but also very stable in fast corners. My dream garage now would be a Taycan 4S for daily commuting and a 911 GT3 for the weekends.” Sounds good to us.
