Aston Martin Halves The Wheels & Ramps Up The Power With Track-Only Superbike

Not merely content with showcasing its four-wheeled prowess, British marque Aston Martin has halved the wheels and upped the ante with the new AMB 001 Pro.

The successor to the sold-out AMB 001, the new AMB 100 Pro, created in collaboration with heritage British motorcycle brand Brough Superior, is inspired by the legendary Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar. The second collaboration between the British automotive duo, the AMB 001 Pro is a 997cc track-only superbike that sees Aston Martin’s signature design style paired with Brough Superior’s state-of-the-art motorcycle engineering. Limited to a release of 88 examples, the AMB 001 Pro was unveiled at the EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show earlier this week.

Available in a single Pro specification, the AMB 001 Pro takes track performance to the extreme, much like the no-holds-barred Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar. The Pro version boasts a 25% power increase over its predecessor, with the 225 bhp producing a power to weight ratio of 1.28 hp/kg, representing stats similar to that of a Formula One car.

“It’s a beautifully simple formula. Form plus technology equals performance. When you push something to the very edge of capacity, and do it seamlessly, the resulting experience can have you breathless,” said Marek Reichman, executive VP and chief creative officer at Aston Martin. “There is no separation between the advanced materials, design and technical capabilities of the bike. We’ve achieved this fluidity again with Brough Superior for those who desire a track superbike like none other. The rider is part of this moving sculpture and will literally feel as though they are part of the track when laying atop the AMB 001 Pro.”

Building upon the groundwork laid out by the contemporary, lightweight build of the sporty AMB 001, the latest release takes track performance to the extreme. The 25% power increase can be attributed to a new CNC-machine, dual-cylinder 997cc engine, which has been crafted from AL 5000 solid billet. The properties of the selected material work to improve the stiffness of the structural engine, while a new cylinder design featuring wet cylinder liners speeds up cooling.

Downforce has been increased by affixing the front cowl to the bodywork, while a tunnel effect air blade directs air over the rider. Airflow enters through an integrated intake on the front wing, before passing through the remodelled front down and getting deflected through the curved windshield. A rear fin with an aero stabiliser design works to further improve aerodynamics.

The sole colourway draws inspiration from racing livery, combining Aston Martin Verdant Jade with satin-finished carbon fibre and a black Ceratoke engine and suspension. Photon Lime accents nod to Aston Martin’s prestige in track racers. As with other extreme performance models from the British marque, the AMB 001 Pro has been fitted with the Aston Martin ‘lacewing’ badge. Designed for the Aston Martin Valkyrie series, the emblem is composed of chemical etched aluminium that is 99.4% thinner than the brand’s standard enamel badge and measures in at 70 microns thick — 30% thinner than a human hair. The lacewing sits atop the painted finish and is coated with lacquer.

Naturally, the AMB 001 Pro is already almost sold out, with initial orders having been taken. The superbike will be hand-built at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France, with first deliveries taking place in Q4, 2023.
