Reimagining quintessential cool weather dressing for antipodean regions, Australian label Bassike leans into understated luxury for its winter 2023 collection. Embodying the label’s signature laidback yet elevated approach to everyday-wear, Bassike winter 2023 focuses on natural fibres and textural juxtaposition.

“To further explore our brand’s DNA between its utilitarian approach to dressing and chic androgyny, this season’s focus was on elevated comfort dressing… casualness and cosiness,” shares Deborah Sams, co-founder and creative director at Bassike. Boiled wool, boucle, and felt are reinvented in winter-ready styles, while the use of draped mohair and cashmere adds a welcome tactility to pieces. The cosy textures are pared-back with comparatively placid materials such as corduroy and ribbed jersey.

Naturally, the label’s cool weather staples make an appearance in the form of wool crepe gaberdine tailoring, leather, and denim. Reintroduced in updated silhouettes, these pieces are intended to be styled with fine knits, simple jersey pieces, or layered under unstructured boucle coats.

The accompanying campaign sees models joined by a slew of four-legged guest stars. Photographed at Monika’s DoggieRescue, a local charity and no-kill shelter that works to save and rehome dogs from council pounds, the campaign seeks to reinforce Bassike’s #WeGoBeyond B-Corp commitment while raising awareness for pet adoption in Australia. The aforementioned commitment seeks to go beyond greenwashing and highlight what it truly means to use business as a force for good.
The winter 2023 collection is now available via the Bassike webstore.
