Levi’s x Valentino Go Free Love With Reworked ’60s Jeans (At $1380 A Pair)

Once upon a time, the ever so wise Nicki Minaj asserted “he copping that Valentino, ain’t no telling me ‘no’.” Now, Levi’s has joined the aforementioned hypothetical man in copping a piece of Valentino, with the American clothing company joining forces with the Italian fashion house through a one-of-a-kind collaboration.

First debuted during the Valentino Collezione Milano SS21 show last year, the Levi’s x Valentino collaboration sees the two seemingly dichotomous brands link up to reimagine Levi’s 517 jeans, a classic style from 1969. Far from being dated, the Levi’s 517s are a timeless silhouette, featuring a mid-to-high rise waist and boot cut.

The collaboration is twofold, with both a vintage and re-edition component. While the vintage lineup is created by upcycling original Levi’s 517 jeans from the 1970s, the re-edition iteration sees the recreation of the 517 style, complete with special patching, washing, and paint-flecking processes. Naturally, both lines feature a new Levi’s x Valentino co-branded patch.

The Valentino collaboration sees Levi’s delivering exclusive Vintage and Re-edition models. While the Re-Edition is a reproduction of the original style — complete with special patching, washing and paint-flecking processes — the Vintage lineup consists of upcycled ’70s vintage, reinforced and retrofitted with the new co-branded patch.
