The Prada FW21 Menswear Collection Wants To Make You Feel Something

Titled ‘Possible Feelings,’ the Prada FW21 Menswear collection marks Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ first joint menswear collection. In yet another fashion week undertaken in isolation, the impetus behind Possible Feelings was closeness, with the collection celebrating intimacy and togetherness.

Simons’ desire to express feelings through clothing took on a literal tone, with tactility and the sensory pleasure of wearing and interacting with clothing placed at the forefront. On the same note, the live-streamed show took place within a sensory playground of textures; from jewel-toned red and purple furry walls (cue *stroke the furry wall*) to pastel pink and blue furry carpets.

“This collection deals with the juxtaposition of softness and hardness to express the reality of the world, and at the same time, express also the possible feelings that everybody has dealing with this isolation,” said Simons of the collection.

Between the jacquard knit bodysuits, chunky leather and bouclé bomber jackets, slim-cut suits, and figure-obscuring nylon outerwear, it’s clear that the Prada FW21 Menswear collection takes on more of Raf than Prada; Rafda if you will. We’re curious to see whether future menswear shows will find a balance between imbuing Prada’s signature brand DNA with Simons’ style, or if going forward Prada menswear will become Raf 2.0.

Nonetheless, the Prada FW21 Menswear does succeed in making us feel something, the least of which being that we wouldn’t mind taking up residence within the furry set design.
